API 16C Choke Manifold and Kill Lines

API 16c is currently in the release candidate phase. It includes a few new features and changes that will make it better than previous versions.

The API 16C kill manifold is used for injecting heavy mud or water to balance bottom hole pressure during drilling. This helps to avoid well kick and blowout successfully. It has several parts such as choke valve, gate valve, pipelines and pressure gauge etc.

Choke Manifold

Choke manifold is a necessary equipment to control the well kick successfully and execute the pressure control technology on oil & gas well in the course of drilling. It can prevent the pollution of oil-layer, improve the speed of drilling and control the blowout effectively. Choke manifold mainly consists of choke valve, gate valve, pipeline, fittings and pressure gauge etc.

Qihang`s API 6A & API 16C kill & choke manifolds are manufactured from quality raw materials and have passed rigorous third-party testing. Each choke valve is hardened and features internal replaceable parts for increased erosion resistance. They are also tested for a minimum of 200 stem cycles during temperature simulations ranging from -20 to 350 F.

Our fully engineered kill & choke manifolds have dual isolation valves upstream of the choke allowing for safer maintenance or choke change-outs. The buffer chamber absorbs downstream expansion reducing Manifold outlet velocities. Each skid incorporates lifting eyes and forklift pockets simplifying on-location movement and set up.

Flexible Choke & Kill Hose

Choke and kill lines are extension of pipe from the Blowout Preventer Assembly used to direct heavy drilling fluid into the well to control a potential blowout. The hoses are specifically designed to handle the high pressures and flowrates this application requires.

All Coflex flexible hoses are produced strictly as per API 16C, composed of inner core, double cross wireline layer, heat-insulation layer, fire-resistance layer, buffering and sealing layer and stainless steel jacket. They can be connected by welding or integral forged union, flanges or clamp connection type.

Wellhead choke manifold (choke line & kill hose) is one of the important parts of BOP system on oil/gas well, used to execute new drilling-wells technique of balance pressure by controlling the choke valve opening/closing to adjust the finite pressure from casing to allow balanced drilling under minimum pressure-difference. One end connects to the BOP cross and the other to the injection pump. Inner tube is made by nitrile rubber or fluoroelastomer, featuring Oil resistance, Abrasion resistant and Corrosion resistant up to 20% H2S.

Choke & Kill Lines

Choke lines are used to control the flow of drilling fluid to the well during the drilling process. They are designed to prevent the build-up of pressure within the BOP system and can help avoid well kick, blowouts, and mud loss. Buffer Chamber

The buffer chamber is a component of the choke manifold that provides an isolation point between the kill line and choke lines. This allows for a more precise control of the fluid flow through the chokes. CORTEC was one of the first choke manufacturers to successfully complete third-party testing of our API 16C design, which included 200 stem cycles and temperature simulations up to 350 F.
